Updated: Sep 18

Lean cuts, ok they're not mean, but they can help you stay lean, haha. Forgive the corny Dad joke.

These cuts are full of flavor and potential!

If I was a betting lady, I'd be willing to bet you try to eat healthy and you want to cook healthy meals for your family. And if you're like me, beef is usually at the center of the dinner table. I try to mix it up by cooking some fish or chicken too, cause BALANCE, lol!

However, I was recently pleased when I read an article that the American Heart Association named 27 cuts of beef that are considered "lean" too.

So what does this mean? Why is lean beef so good?

Well it can have several benefits to helping serve up healthy meals.

Here's just a few;

  1. No need to cut out beef if you're watching calories, Lean beef cuts is the low-cal option.

  2. Lean beef is packed with high-quality protein, making you feel full longer, building muscle and repairing it.

  3. It's a great source of vital nutrients like zinc, b-vitamins for energy, brain clarity, and your immune health.

  4. Lean beef is reduced in saturated fat, keeping your heart healthy and helps in managing cholesterol.

What are the names of these lean cuts of beef that you gotta try?

Lean beef cuts such as Tri-Tip Roast, Flank Steak, Top Round Steak, Sirloin Tip Steak, Chuck Roast, Top Sirloin Steak, Filet Mignon, and Top Round Roast.

So next time you're feeling adventurous, give these cuts a chance to beef up your meals without beefing up your calories!

Below is a list of our recently introduced cuts along with recipes and prep instructions:

In the Weiler Lean Beef Box:

  • Sirloin Tip Steak- Great value boneless, lean cut.  Makes good kabobs, stew meat, cubed steak.

  • Top Round Steak- AKA London Broil. Typically, broiled or slow-cooked to bring out its best.

  • Flank Steak- Lean & boneless with lots of intense beef flavor. Best marinated/grilled or sliced thin & stir fried.

  • Tri-Tip Roast- Boneless, fairly tender with full flavor.  Roast or grill. A rising star among beef cuts, the versatile Tri-Tip Roast is at its best here —simply seasoned with olive oil, salt and black pepper.

  • Chuck Roast- A workhorse in the kitchen. Excellent for a busy Mom season of life.  If you’ve got mouths to feed, you’ll want a freezer full of them.  They don’t even have to be thawed to cook, you can’t screw them up.

  • Top Sirloin Steak- Boneless, versatile & juicy.  Great as a steak or kabobs.

  • Filet Mignon (Tenderloin Steak)- The most tender steak, lean yet succulent, with fine buttery texture. Sold Boneless

  • Top Round Roast- A lean roast that should be slow cooked to improve tenderness & sliced thinly across the grain.
